A person answers, usually the same day.
There is no chatbot and no ticket number. Write to hello@kenja.app and someone who works on Kenja will reply.

Even a half sentence helps. “It closed when I scanned a barcode” is a genuinely useful bug report.
Questions people actually ask
Is this just another calorie counter?
It counts calories, but that is not what it is for. The score you build is made of behaviours you control — logging, moving, weighing in, hitting protein — and never of what you weigh. Most people find the counting becomes background within a fortnight.
What happens if I stop using it for a week?
Momentum dips and your level does not move at all. When you open it again there is no backlog, no summary of what you missed, and no red. You get one easy thing to do and a bonus for doing it. That is the entire design.
Do I have to log everything?
No. A day with one item logged counts as a logged day. Kenja would rather have six honest days than seven where two were invented, because the estimates it builds are only as good as the days you actually recorded.
Why does it not tell me to exercise off what I ate?
Because that framing turns food into a debt and exercise into a punishment, and it does not work. Training is there because it protects muscle while you lose fat. It is never a correction for a meal.
How accurate are the calorie numbers?
Reasonable, and honest about not being exact. Figures come from FSANZ AUSNUT, Open Food Facts and panels typed in by people using the app. Anything estimated from a photo or description is labelled as such. Your expenditure is inferred from your own intake and weight over time, which is more useful than a formula but still an estimate.
What is trend weight and why is it different from the scale?
Your scale can move over a kilo overnight on water alone. Trend weight is a fourteen-day rolling average, so it shows the direction rather than the noise. If the scale is up but the trend is down, nothing has gone wrong.
Do I need a smart watch or smart scales?
No. They save you typing — steps, workouts and weight arrive on their own if you connect Health Connect or Apple Health — but everything works without them and the app never behaves as though something is missing.
Is my data sold or shared?
No. Not to advertisers, insurers, employers or data brokers, not in aggregate and not de-identified. Kenja is paid for by subscriptions, which is the only reason it can make that promise.
Where do progress photos go?
Wherever you choose, per set. On the device only, which means they are gone if the phone is, or in your account, encrypted in transit and in storage and reachable only when you are signed in. You can move a set either way, or delete everything at once.
I am on a GLP-1. Does that change anything?
Yes, and you should say so in settings. Kenja protects an intake floor instead of pushing you lower, raises the protein target, and watches lean mass rather than celebrating the scale. Losing weight is easy on those medications; keeping muscle is the hard part.
Does it work if my day is not nine to five?
Yes. You can set your day to start when you wake rather than at midnight, or run a flexible day for rotating shifts. A night shift that crosses midnight stays one day.
Can I get my data out?
Any time, in two forms. A complete JSON file with every entry, or a printed report with charts, nutrient tables and plain observations — the one to take to a doctor.
What if I have an eating disorder history?
Tell Kenja in settings and it changes behaviour: no daily weight prompts, no calorie deficits framed as achievements, and the option to hide numbers entirely. It is not a treatment tool, and if tracking is making things worse the right answer is to stop and talk to someone.
Why is it called Kenja?
It is Japanese for a wise or thoughtful person. The idea is an app that thinks about the boring parts so you do not have to.
